The essentials at a glance
- This website does not set cookies and does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking tools.
- Fonts, images, video thumbnails, and scripts are served exclusively from this server. No content is loaded from Google Fonts, content delivery networks, or other third-party servers.
- YouTube videos are loaded only when you explicitly click a video. Until then, no connection to YouTube is made.
- In the guestbook, we only store what you enter yourself (name, message, optionally a show) and the time of your entry. We do not store your IP address.
- We send our newsletter via rapidmail. You only receive it after confirming your sign-up by email, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Nothing is stored on our website itself in the process. In the newsletter, rapidmail records which links you click; details in Section 8.
- Like every web server, our hosting provider’s server logs technical access data. We have only limited influence on this; details in Section 3.

3. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by: IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with IONOS.
Every time a page is requested, your browser necessarily transmits data to the server. The hosting provider stores this data in log files. As a rule, this includes: IP address, date and time of access, requested address, amount of data transferred, status code, the previously visited page (referrer), and browser and operating system (user agent).
The purpose is the secure and stable operation of the website, for example defending against attacks and troubleshooting. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in trouble-free operation. The hosting provider processes the data on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR). How long the logs are kept is determined by the hosting provider. The data is processed in Germany or the EU.
4. No cookies, no tracking
This website does not itself store cookies or similar data on your device, nor does it read any from it. There is no audience measurement, no advertising networks, and no social media plug-ins. That is why the website does not need a cookie banner. The only exception arises when you start a YouTube video (Section 6).
Language selection: This website is available in German and English. If you arrive at a German page from outside the website and your browser is not set to German as its preferred language, we redirect you to the English version. To do this, the server evaluates the language setting (Accept-Language) and the previously visited page (referrer), which your browser sends with every request anyway. Nothing is stored in the process, not even a cookie. You can switch languages at any time using the DE | EN switch.
5. Fonts, images, and calendar files
The fonts used (Anton and Archivo) and all images, including the video thumbnails, are stored on our own server. Loading them does not connect to Google or any other provider.
The calendar files (.ics) for the shows are generated by our server and downloaded from it. No additional data is collected in the process.
6. YouTube videos
On the Media page, we show videos hosted on YouTube. At first, you only see a thumbnail from our own server. Only when you click a video is it embedded via the address youtube-nocookie.com and a connection to YouTube’s servers established. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
In the process, at least your IP address, the page visited, and technical information about your browser are transmitted to YouTube. Even in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), YouTube may store or read information on your device after the video starts, for example in your browser’s local storage. If you are logged in to Google, YouTube can associate the request with your account.
YouTube may also transfer data to the USA. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; an adequacy decision of the European Commission therefore exists for the USA. Google describes what it does with the data in its privacy policy.
The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG, which you give by clicking the video. Your consent applies only to that one video and only until you leave the page; on your next visit, videos are again loaded only after a click. If you don’t want this, don’t click the videos; the rest of the website works the same.
7. Guestbook
When you write an entry, we store the name you enter, the message, the show you optionally selected, and the time of the entry on our server. Your IP address is not stored. As spam protection, we use an invisible form field and a time-limited, signed form token; neither cookies nor personal data are needed for this.
Entries appear only after the band has reviewed and approved them, and are then visible to all visitors and discoverable by search engines. So please don’t include any information in your message that should not become public. You don’t have to use your real name. A name and a message are required for an entry; all other information is voluntary.
The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you give by checking the box in the form. You can withdraw it at any time by email to info@more-town-soul.de; the entry will then be deleted. The lawfulness of publication up to the withdrawal remains unaffected. Without withdrawal, an entry remains stored as long as the guestbook exists. Entries that are not approved are deleted.
8. Newsletter
With our newsletter, we keep you informed about the band’s shows and news. To sign up, all you need is your email address; you can voluntarily add your first name so we can address you personally.
Email service: We send the newsletter via rapidmail GmbH, Augustinerplatz 2, 79098 Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. rapidmail processes the data on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR); we have concluded a data processing agreement with rapidmail for this purpose. According to its own information, rapidmail processes the data on servers in Germany. rapidmail describes the details in its privacy policy (in German).
How sign-up works: When you submit the form on the Contact page, our server passes your email address and, if provided, your first name directly to rapidmail. Your browser does not connect to rapidmail in the process, and nothing is stored on our server. As spam protection, we use an invisible form field and a time-limited, signed form token, as in the guestbook, without cookies.
Confirmation (double opt-in): After you sign up, rapidmail sends you an email with a confirmation link. You are only subscribed once you click it. This ensures that no one can sign up someone else’s address. To be able to prove your consent, rapidmail stores the time of sign-up and confirmation and the IP address you used to confirm. If you don’t confirm, the sign-up does not take effect and is deleted by rapidmail.
Click analysis: Links in the newsletter are routed through a rapidmail server. This records whether and which links you click in an issue, linked to your email address and the time. This shows us which topics interest you, and we shape the newsletter accordingly. If you don’t want this, you can only object to the analysis together with the newsletter, that is, by unsubscribing; the data on your clicks is then deleted along with your other data.
Legal basis for sending the newsletter and analyzing clicks is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you give by signing up. Logging the sign-up is based on our obligation to be able to prove consent (Art. 6(1)(c) in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR) and on our legitimate interest in doing so (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Unsubscribing: You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, using the unsubscribe link in every issue or by email to info@more-town-soul.de. This withdraws your consent; the lawfulness of mailings sent up to that point remains unaffected. After you unsubscribe, we delete your data from the mailing list. Your email address may remain on a block list so that you no longer receive newsletters; the legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in permanently honoring unsubscribe requests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
9. Contact by email or phone
If you contact us by email or phone, we use your information only to handle your inquiry, such as a booking request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where a performance or contract is concerned, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in answering inquiries. We delete the data once the inquiry has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply, for example for invoices.
10. Links to other websites
This website links to Facebook, to ticket sellers such as Eventbrite, to venues, and to the websites of our musicians, among others. These are simple links. Only when you click a link is a connection made to the respective provider; from then on, that provider’s privacy policy applies.
11. Recipients and transfers to third countries
We do not pass on or sell your data. The only recipients are the hosting provider as a processor (Section 3), rapidmail as a processor when you sign up for the newsletter (Section 8), and, after your click, YouTube (Section 6). Data is transferred to countries outside the EU only in the case of YouTube.
12. No automated decision-making
We do not make automated decisions or create profiles within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
13. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), and data portability (Art. 20). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). An informal message to the address above is sufficient.
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): Where we process data on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is: Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany, phone 030 13889-0, mailbox@datenschutz-berlin.de, www.datenschutz-berlin.de.
14. Changes
We update this privacy policy when the website or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies.
